2nd Sustainable Apparel Summit 2020
SNV’s Working with Women Project-2 in partnership with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is hosting the 2nd Sustainable Apparel Summit 2020 on 08 November in Dhaka to bring together all the related stakeholders to discuss and promote industry best practices around the theme 'Workforce-centric Sustainability in the RMG Sector’.
Bangladesh Minister of Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian will attend the closing session as the Chief Guest. Ministry of Labour and Employment Secretary K.M. Abdus Salam, will be the Chief Guest while Ambassador H.E. Harry Verweij, of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands will be the Guest of Honour at the inaugural session.
With the funding support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, SNV in Bangladesh has been working since 2014 to bring out a win-win solution to the country’s RMG sector. SNV encouraged designing products and solutions, which is accessible, affordable and available to garment workers. Private companies found ways to serve the workers by extending their supply chain in a profitable and socially responsive business manner. Some international brands/buyers got sensitized by the initiative and some of their foundations have joined together to scale up the initiatives.
Stakeholders and partners need to realise the gravity of health & wellbeing of workers in the workplace and their community so that they come forward to support and collaborate with necessary initiatives. The 1st Sustainable Apparel Summit was held in April 2019.
The summit will be broadcasted live via SNV Bangladesh Facebook page.
